Here is how your day at the Center actually unfolds, from admission to discharge.

WELCOME

Welcome and admission to the Center

As soon as you arrive, you are welcomed by our Reception / Admissions department. This administrative step is used to:

Check your insurance card
Collect your pre-completed anesthesia questionnaire
Give you a secure identification bracelet

Please note: the official appointment letter, specifying your admission time at the Center, is sent to you by post and email about one week before the procedure.

CARE HANDOVER

Welcome to the ambulatory surgery unit

In our ambulatory surgery unit, you are taken care of by our team of nurses and nursing assistants, who carry out the essential checks:

Confirmation of the type of procedure and, where applicable, of the site or side to be operated on
A short medical history review to confirm that you are fasting, and to record any allergies and current medications

PREPARATION

Pre-operative preparation

Before the procedure, specific preparation is carried out according to the protocol defined by your surgeon:

The preparatory measures specific to your procedure, according to your surgeon's instructions (for example preparing the surgical site)
Assistance in the changing room to get changed with the help of the nurse, remove make-up, jewelry and nail polish, then wash and disinfect your hands
A last verification of your identity before you leave for the operating room

PRE-ANESTHESIA

Welcome to the pre-anesthesia area

The nurse anesthetist welcomes you to the pre-anesthesia area before the procedure, and:

Welcomes you and settles you in comfortably
Reviews the key points with you: allergies, hearing or dental prostheses, mobility, medications taken, site or side to be operated on
Confirms that you are fasting
Inserts an intravenous catheter if necessary
Begins local preparation and disinfection of the surgical site
Monitors your vital signs: heart, breathing, blood pressure

THE PROCEDURE

The surgical procedure

As soon as the operating room is ready, you are taken to the operating theater. The monitoring equipment is set up, a final verification of your identity and of the planned procedure is carried out, then the surgical site is disinfected again.

The procedure can then begin, performed by one of our FMH-accredited specialist surgeons, surrounded by an experienced team, in a sterile and perfectly controlled environment.

DISCHARGE

Post-operative monitoring and discharge

After the procedure:

You are accompanied to the changing room to get dressed in complete peace of mind
You then remain in the recovery room (PACU) for the time needed to recover
A light snack is offered to you to support a gentle recovery
The nurse checks your post-operative record, passes on your surgeon's instructions (medications, care, follow-up appointments) and ensures that your discharge is validated according to safety criteria
The return home is accompanied, depending on the type of procedure and anesthesia performed
